PRECISION NEUROMUSCULAR THERAPY

Precision Neuromuscular Therapy (PNMT) is the heart and soul of our massage therapy practice. The founder of BodyWork Associates, Douglas Nelson, is also the creator of Precision Neuromuscular Therapy. Thousands of therapists are studying PNMT with Doug and his teaching staff as seminars are offered from Washington DC to Anchorage, Alaska. While many of the BWA staff are certified in PNMT (a very rigorous process), every therapist has undergone training in this approach. It is central to everything we do at BWA.

What is PNMT?

In short, it is a problem-solving approach to soft tissue therapy that requires a higher skill level and a deeper understanding from the therapist. PNMT sessions aren't a formula; each session is tailored to the needs of the client.

Is PNMT deep tissue therapy?

In short, no. PNMT is far more advanced. If the client presents with pain in the front of the shoulder, a deep tissue massage will press really hard into the shoulder at the site of the discomfort. In PNMT, the therapist will follow an assessment strategy to discover which of the eight possible muscles could be responsible for the pain. In this case, the two most likely muscles don't even attach in the front of the shoulder, meaning a deep-tissue massage would not be very effective. Our goal is to achieve measurable and tangible results for our clients. Clients consistently remark how astonished they are at the amount of improvement we are able to achieve in a short period of time.

The goal of PNMT is soft tissue therapy that gets results in the most efficient and effective way possible.
