The BWA Mission
Our mission at BodyWork Associates is to bring effective and efficent relief to people with muscular discomfort and pain. Our interest is in therapy that is
science based and grounded in physiological principles. We do not consider what we do "alternative" health care; we are very much in the
"complementary" model. You won't see us making claims that aren't backed up by research or solid physiological footing.
Most importantly, our interest is in areas of soft-tissue pain that the more traditional environments do not serve well. We serve people who have
problems that often fall through the cracks of health care. As a result, we often work with physical therapy to enhance the effectiveness of their
exercises after insurance no longer covers more visits. Primary care physicians often send us people who need careful soft-tissue care for
chronic conditions. We appreciate and respect the confidence they place in us; we strive to earn that every day.
Many people who come through our doors have been frustrated by a lack of success with other therapies. The taregeted soft tissue therapy we do, called
Precision Neuromuscular Therapy, is unlike anything else they have tried. Visits for general massage, chiropractic, and physical therapy do not mean that
targeted soft tissue therapy has been addressed. The specificity of what we do is quite different.
Many people also come to our office to combat the effects of stress and fatigue. In this case, the work we do is slightly different, but with the same care
and attention to detail. Our job is to help you feel your very best so you can be your very best.
Why should you visit BWA for your massage therapy needs? Here are a few reasons. . .
1. Our Foundation. BWA is solidly based in Precision Neuromuscular Therapy. Whether we are using this technique exclusively or are doing general
massage, every therapist in the office has had this training and all that knowledge goes into the relaxation session that you receive. We don't just slather
lotion around; this is a real science and an art. And if you think therapeutic work has to hurt, then we have a very pleasant surprise for you!
2. Experience. We have been doing this work for many years, in CU since 1982. Many of the staff have been with BWA since the early 1990's. You won't
find a collection of more experienced therapists in the same practice anywhere in this state.
3. Education. This group of therapists has an impressive educational history. Most of all, we love to learn and pursue continuing education passionately.
BWA is a learning organization. We have study groups inside the staff, monthly educational seminars, and frequent updates. Moreover, President of
BWA, Douglas Nelson, is a master trainer, having taught over four hundred professional trainings while consulting for companies such as Kohler, Honda of
America, the Chicago Bulls, and the St. Louis Rams. Therapists travel from all over the country to study with Doug, and many of the BWA staff are
teaching assistants in these seminars.
4. Options. Do you need to have your appointments early in the AM? We can do that. Later in the day? Done. Need someone who has expertise in
working with musicians? We have some of the best in the field. Back pain? Neck issues? Feet? Runner's issues? With the size of our staff, we can meet
just about any need you have. A single therapist in practice cannot do that. No one is an expert in all things.
5. Research. BWA is involved in doing clinical research and actively gathering data to publish in several fields of muscular discomfort. Very few massage
therapy clinics across the country are doing this.
6. Commitment The staff of BWA is committed to this work and being the very best we can be. We want you to be happy with your session and will work
to make it what you wish. If not, your money will be refunded.
7. Value. Our prices are extremely reasonable. This is especially true when you compare the education of the therapist, the support staff (real people
answer the phone!), and the history of the clinic.
We invite you to ask around to gather opinions from people who visit our offices. Call us and speak to a therapist and see what BWA can offer you. We
are very candid when we feel that this work may not help, as well as encouraging when we think massage can make a positive difference. If we don't know
the answer, we'll tell you! This work is a partnership between therapist and client.
