BodyWork Associates is blessed with an amazing and dedicated staff of therapists. As many of our long-time clients will tell you, each therapist has varying strengths and areas of expertise. It is highly recommended that you see more than one therapist for this reason. Also, if you need to get in quickly you will have two options, not one. Here is the staff listing:
Peggy Cler (Nationally Certified Therapist of Massage and Bodywork)
Peggy has been with BWA since early 1999 and specializes in taking massage to the workplace. She takes a special chair to the workplace and does ten to fifteen minute massages on neck, back, and shoulders. A graduate of Healthy Lifestyle School of Massage Therapy , she is a Nationally Certified massage therapist. Peggy sees clients for massage therapy at the Windsor Road location on Wednesdays and Thursdays. She is also availble to speak to groups on the benefits of massage and the effects of stress on the body and mind.
Jennifer Crozier, Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified in Precision Neuromuscular Therapy
Jennifer Crozier is a graduate of the Soma Institute of Clinical Massage in Chicago. Jen is working at the Windsor Road officeon Thursdays and Saturdays. Jen is adept at both massage therapy for relaxation and also clinical massage for specific pain relief, especially concerning neck discomfort.
Marcia Deem Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified in Precision Neuromuscular Therapy
Marcia joined the office in the summer of 2003. She is a graduate of Healthy Lifestyle School of Massage Therapy. Her passion for this work and her commitment to learning are reflected in all her massage work. She can see people for general relaxation, but Marcia is also certified in Precision Neuromuscular Therapy. Marcia is at both the Windsor Road and Fitness Center offices. Marcia was Therapist of the Year for 2005, 2006, 2007.
Jennifer Galt, CMT Certified Precision Neuromuscular Therapist
Jennifer works at the Fitness Center office: Monday and Wednesdays , and is at the WR office on Friday's. Jenny is a graduate of the Lakeside School of Massage Therapy in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She has additional certification in Precision Neuromuscular Therapy and specializes in neck and shoulder conditions as well as doing wonderful general massage therapy work.
James Ivaska, Licensed Massage Therapist
James joined the office in March of 2006 at the start of our Oasis Location inside the UI Union. A graduate of the Chicago School of Massage Therapy, James has a Masters in Kinesiology at the University of Illinois. He concentrates his efforts at the two campus locations and is the manager of the BWA Campus locations. In addition, James is the research coordinator for Precision Neuromuscular Therapy.
Shayna Johnson, Licensed Massage Therapist
Shayna Johnson is the newest addition to the BodyWork Associates staff. Shayna is presently working Fridays and Saturdays at the Windsor Road location.
Sally McLemore, Licensed Massage Therapist
Sally has been with BWA for years as a part of On Location, seated massage in the workplace. With small children at home, Sally is limiting her hours with us to Saturdays, but is still available for special events.
Jennifer Mueller, Licensed Massage Therapist, Seated Massage Specialist
Jennifer brings with her the enthusiasm and love of her work as a seated massage specialist. She travels to many different companies and enjoys the ability to really brighten someone’s day with seated massage in the workplace.
Rebecca Malone Licensed Massage Therapist
Rebecca is a graduate of the Soma Institute for Clinical Massage Therapy in Chicago. She is practicing at both our ARC and Windsor Road locations. Becca's areas of study include Precision Neuromuscular Therapy and also Pregnancy Massage.
Kathy Moyers Licensed Massage Therapist (Nationally Certified Therapist of Massage and Bodywork)
Kathy Moyers joined BodyWork Associates in the fall of 2008. She does general massage for relaxation and stress reduction with a special emphasis on senior care. Kathy is a 2008 graduate of the Soma Institute in Chicago and is a member of the AMTS. She is also nationally certified with the NCBTMB. Kathy is at the Windsor Road location Wednesday - Saturday and also helps out at the campus locations.
Douglas Nelson, CNMT (Nationally Certified Therapist of Massage and Bodywork) Certified Precision Neuromuscular Therapist
Doug is the president and founder of BWA and has been practicing massage therapy since 1977. Doug’s main focus is Precision Neuromuscular Therapy, which is the heart and soul of the BWA approach to pain. He is the founder of NMT MidWest, teaching Precision Neuromuscular Therapy both in the US and also abroad. He is a member of the International Myopain Association, the International Association for the Study of Pain, and the American Massage Therapy Association and is currently working on a book on pain mechanisms. He is also a regular columnist for Massage and Bodywork magazine. Doug is heavily involved in research endeavors, doing clinical research in soft-tissue problems. Although he sees many clients a week, he sees a limited number of new clients and only sees people with very specific problems. Brenda Nielsen. CNMT, (Nationally Certified Therapist of Massage and Bodywork) Certified Precision Neuromuscular Therapist
Brenda is certified in Precision Neuromuscular Therapy and also is a nationally certified member of the AMTA. She graduated from Heartspace School of Massage Therapy and has been with BWA since 1991. She specializes in soft tissue pain relief, headache relief, neck pain therapy, and TMJ therapy. She also does general, non-specific relaxation massage. Brenda was Therapist of the Year for 2004, 2005 and 2008.
Mike Perry, Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Precision Neuromuscular Therapist
Mike graduated from Healthy Lifestyle School of Massage in August of 2004. He has since worked at the St. Louis Institute for Rehabilitative and Sports massage in Creve Coeur, MO specializing in myofascial integration. During that time Mike worked with the Washington University Athletic Department for the Fall 2004 / Spring 2005 seasons. During that time he worked with athletic trainers on a variety of acute and chronic conditions involving multiple men's and women's sports. Mike has also been an American Council on Exercise personal trainer since 2001. He works evenings at the Windsor Rd office on Monday, Wednesday, and during the day on Saturdays.
Debbie Robeck, Office Manager
Your phone call will probably be answered by Debbie Robeck. She has been with us since 1994; now we can't remember how the office ran without her. She will be happy to answer any questions you might have, refer you to a therapist appropriate to your needs, or help schedule your appointment.
Jill Raven, Licensed Massage Therapist Nationally Certified Massage Therapist
Jill graduated from the Parkland College Massage Therapy program in August of 2006. She became Nationally certified in Sept 2006. She is also a fitness instructor at the Fitness Center in Champaign and Tuscola. Jill offers a stronger, firmer pressure massage, not necessarily deep tissue, and also massage for relaxation. Jill enjoys spending time with her two children and husband and attending all University of Illinois sporting events. She is currently working Monday evening and Friday at the Fitness Center location, Wednesdays and Saturdays at the Windsor Road location. Jill also does special events with On Location.
Gloria Roubal (Nationally Certified Therapist of Massage and Bodywork) Certified Precision Neuromuscular Therapist
Gloria is a 2004 graduate of Healthy Lifestyle School of Massage Therapy in Muncie, IN. She brings considerable passion and skill to the practice of massage therapy at BodyWork Associates. While proficient at general massage for relaxation, Gloria is also certified in Precision Neuromuscular Therapy, with expertise in head and neck issues and shoulder problems.
Jessica Zizzo, Licensed Massage Therapist
Jessica has been practicing for four years and is a graduate of Soma Institute in Chicago. Jessica has a background in exercise physiology and is working at both our campus locations.
